Mushroom Leather Bags
What if a luxury bag could begin with a mushroom?
HyphaLite™ is made from mushrooms not suitable for eating, combined with natural latex and FSC-certified cellulose fibres. Mushrooms grow quickly with few inputs. The result is a soft, lightweight material with an organic, living texture.
HyphaLite™ is 100% biobased and plastic-free. It is certified TÜV Austria OK Compostable, USDA BioPreferred and OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, and its fibres come from responsibly managed forests (FSC, SFI and PEFC).
Our Myco Luxe Shoulder Satchel is the first Shaurè piece in this material. It is made to order, in very small numbers, and hand-finished by women artisans. Join early access to be among the first to carry it.
Mushroom leather is one of the newest materials in luxury. Choosing it means backing an idea early: that a beautiful bag can come from something that grows back.
Frequently asked questions
What is mushroom leather? A leather alternative made with mushrooms and mycelium-based materials. HyphaLite™ contains no animal products and no plastic. It does contain natural latex, so it may not suit anyone with a latex allergy.
Is it really compostable? The HyphaLite™ material is certified TÜV Austria OK Compostable. The finished bag also includes a lining and metal hardware, which should be removed first.
Is it durable enough for everyday use? It is soft and lightweight. Treat it as you would fine leather: keep it dry, away from oils and sharp objects, and store it in its dust bag.
Why is it made to order? HyphaLite™ is produced in limited quantities, and each bag is made individually.
